Ultrasonic teeth cleaning

What is it?

Ultrasonic teeth cleaning is fundamentally different from standard electric toothbrushes or the increasingly popular sonic toothbrushes.

Ultrasonic toothbrushes rely entirely on silent ultrasonic waves. They contain a unique chip within the brush head that generates 96 million air oscillations per minute. When these oscillations interact with a specially formulated toothpaste, millions of microscopic nano bubbles are produced. These bubbles continuously form and implode on the teeth, creating hydrodynamic forces that soften and lift the edges of plaque. This process is completely invisible to the human eye

Advantages of ultrasonic cleaning:

Completely silent
Non-invasive
Gentle treatment
Tackles bad breath
Can often avoid the need for dental procedures under anesthetic at the vet
Microscopic bubbles work between teeth and underneath the gum line to remove bacteria
Heals gums and increases blood flow
Stops the progression of periodontal disease

Disadvantages of ultrasonic cleaning:

Ultrasonic teeth cleaning, like any teeth cleaning, is preventative and not a cure.
Plaque will start to build up again if not maintained afterwards.
It is not suitable for receded gums and loose teeth; these conditions require veterinary attention.
It is not a veterinary procedure and does not replace the need for probing and x-rays.
